We aim for accuracy. When we get it wrong, we correct it openly and visibly.
How we handle corrections
When a factual error is identified โ by us, a reader, an expert, or a brand โ we:
- Verify the error against original sources
- Correct the article promptly, typically within 48 hours of confirmation
- Annotate the article with a “Correction” notice at the bottom describing what was changed and when
- Update the “Last updated” date on the article
For substantive corrections that change the article’s recommendation โ e.g., we previously recommended a product and learned of a serious formulation concern โ we email subscribers and pin the correction at the top of the article.
What counts as a correction
- Factual errors โ incorrect ingredient claims, misattributed quotes, wrong study citations, outdated prices
- Misinterpretations โ when we summarize a study in a way that misrepresents the original finding
- Material omissions โ when we left out information that would have changed our recommendation
We don’t note corrections for minor copyediting (typos, broken links, etc.) โ those are fixed silently.
